Maggot

Maggots are an incredibly weak early enemy that appear in swarms.

Behavior

Maggots simply crawl around and usually go for the player when they are within range. Not much else to say, they don't do a lot.

Nearly all weapons will do against maggots, though a large amount of Bolt and Energy ones are inefficient. Like with most weak enemies, don't waste your ammo on them.

Specific Tactics

• Maggots will move away from Crystal while she is shielding.
• Melting can reliably kill Maggots for free by exploding the corpses of enemies that spawn them.
• Plant's Snare can almost completely immobilize a large group of Maggots.
• Gamma Guts entirely protects against Maggots and allows killing them for free.

Variants

• Radioactive Maggots, a faster version that gives more Rads and dies on contact.
• Giant Maggots, a stronger version that spawns additional Maggots on death.

While not true variants, Giant Flies and Giga Maggot are also Maggots.

Areas

Maggots are primarily located in the Desert. They rarely appear here on their own and are otherwise always spawned by other enemies.

• Desert (Spawned by Maggot Nests, Big Maggot Nests and Giant Maggots)
• Jungle (Spawned by Giant Flies)

Changes in NT:TE

• Can now be spawned from Big Maggot Nests.
