Fish is a generalist character that performs well at all stages of the game. He's considered the default character due to his lack of specialization and ease of use, and many of the modded mutants are built off of him.
Abilities
Gets More Ammo
Fish gets 25% more Ammo from all sources rounded up, including his starting ammo.
This bonus applies to all characters in Co-op as long as one Fish is present, and will not stack if there are multiple Fish.

Finds His Guitar
At 0-1 Fish will always find his Guitar, a melee weapon with high stats.
There will not be more copies of the Guitar with multiple Fish in Co-op.
Can Roll
Fish's active is a quick mobility roll in the direction of the cursor.
Throne Butt
Throne Butt converts Roll to Water Boost, making Fish move continuously as long as the active ability button is held.
Ultra Mutations
Confiscate
Confiscate adds a 20% chance for an Ammo Chest, Weapon Chest or Medkit Chest to drop from an enemy instead of an Ammo Pickup, Weapon or Medkit respectively.
Under proper spawn criteria, the Ammo Chest can be a Present Chest or I.D.P.D. Chest, and the Weapon Chest can be a Cursed Weapon Chest.
Gun Warrant
Gun Warrant lets Fish fire weapons at no ammo cost for 7 seconds upon entering a level, as indicated by a lightning effect on him.

Overview
Fish is a great generalist for inexperienced players and veterans alike, being especially useful for mitigating the high ammo costs of certain high-end weapons.
His adaptability makes him an ideal control character for testing out mods as both a player and developer.
Mutations
Throne Butt
Water Boost is largely a preference choice, offering comparable utility to Fish's Roll. It is generally not considered worth the mutation slot.
Ultra Mutation
While Confiscate arguably scales better in Looping with the decreasing pickup lifespan, the choice between it and Gun Warrant largely comes down to player preference. Gun Warrant is more favorable if you have Trigger Fingers and/or Stress, while Confiscate is appealing if you lack mutations such as Plutonium Hunger or Second Stomach.
Co-op
Fish can offer a lot of utility for a cooperative game, which paired with his flexibility will allow him to mesh well with most of the cast. Remember that his passive affects everyone's ammo gain, and rolling can be used to quickly reach a downed teammate to revive them.
If Ultras are on own/any, Confiscate becomes notably more desirable in multiplayer.
Notable Pairings
- Chester, Horsie and Robot will all receive additional ammo from their abilities, with Horsie additionally being able to trigger Confiscate.
- Medkit Chests spawned by Confiscate can be a saving throw for Chicken's passive ability, as unlike normal Medkits they do not despawn.
- If not taken by Fish, Eyes can get great use out of his Guitar.
- Steroids and Y.V. will have more sustainable ammo consumption, with Steroids getting a boost to his Get Loaded Ultra.
- As The Criminal is built off of Fish, their passives will not stack.
