Very high block for the cost.
Useful in Block decks with a lot of draw power, as Opener's effect will not trigger if Defend is drawn after the turn begins, allowing you to play it and Initiative in the same turn.
Useful in Block decks that also use Hunker Down, as they generally don't rely on Initiative for defense and don't have to worry about losing it by playing Defend first.
One of two 0 cost block cards, the only other being Perception, allowing for infinite block combos with cards like Ferocity.
