Better in almost every way than Improvise. The only advantage of improvise is that you still draw even if you do not hit an enemy.
Works well in high combo decks, as the momentum increases the damage of every other card played that turn.
When used with power moves that cause attacks to hit multiple times, the Momentum and draw is multiplied by the number of hits. The Momentum is applied after all hits, so the Momentum from the first hit will not increase the damage of subsequent hits.
Cards are drawn and Momentum is gained for each enemy hit, so using a longsword or other weapon that can hit multiple enemies is beneficial.
Momentum's ability to draw multiple cards makes it useful in infinite combos, but some way to gain energy like No Pain No Gain is also needed.
